SH1 ETA Stage 3 was a SIP Acceleration Project, with a key deadline to commence construction in January 2024. SH1 Taupō

The project was multi-disciplinary with works including;

  • Seal widening
  • Earthworks
  • Associated drainage
  • Wire rope median barrier
  • Liaison with stakeholders (Taupo DC, walking and cycling advocates)
  • Liaison with the NZTA pavement and safety SME’s
  • Preparation of contract documentation, consenting
  • Fast track procurement via negotiation with a panel contractor
  • Engineer to Contract services
  • Technical support from our design team to the WSP team undertaking the MSQA

Key to the successful delivery of this accelerated project was the high responsiveness of our team who provided direct access to the NZTA PM to both our Team Leader and Design Manager. Our team also provided cost savings and sustainability innovation through utilising cut to waste as an earth bund to eliminate the need for the installation of side barriers.
