SH3 Glenview Bus Hub Concepts and Detailed Design Phases

Urban Connection was engaged in 2020 to undertake the investigation and development of concepts for the SH3 Glenview Bus Hub which included shared paths, on-road cycle facilities, a signalised pedestrian crossing and public transport facilities. The hub has new on- and off-road cycle path facilities and new pedestrian facilities to make it a multi-modal hub. Based on our performance, Urban Connection was further engaged in 2021 to progress the project to detailed design, procure a physical works contractor, and undertake the MSQA.

The project was led by one of our Technical Directors, Tony Harrison. Key to the success of the project across the three phases (concept, design, and construction) was to have a multidiscipline transport lead following through on all the phases of the project. Tony provided governance, knowledge transfer across the phases and undertook the project management, reporting and engagement roles with key stakeholders alongside the Waka Kotahi communications and engagement specialist. Tony is also an accredited Level 2 Engineer to Contract for Waka Kotahi and undertook this role during the construction phase.

The project team’s extensive multi-disciplinary background enabled them to assist the Principal work through construction error’s whilst minimising the impact on traffic and wider stakeholder’s. This was done by altering the
design to minimise re-work for the Contractor.
